Myrrh is the resin of a small tree (Commiphora myrrha) with waxy branches and large thorns . At the end of August, white and green flowers begin to appear and the tree trunk forms the nodules. It is then incised and, after this process, yellow resin drains out, that dries, becomes brown and is collected during the summer months.
Chemical composition – The main chemical components of myrrh is oil and is composed of a-pinene, cadinene, limonene, cuminaldehyde, eugenol, m-cresol, heerabolene, acetic acid, formic acid and other sesquiterpenes and acids.
